Hip shoulder bag

This hip bag manufactures O My Bag from AppleSkin™, a vegan leather alternative that is quite similar to traditional leather in look and feel, yet cooler to the touch and slightly lighter. As a result, the material can be used here in lush thickness without adding much weight to the hips itself, because that's what's supposed to go into the hip bag.
Lined with the signature striped cotton fabric, the main compartment houses a zippered pocket and three card slots. On the outside of the bag (front and back) are two additional compartments that close with a zipper, just like the main compartment. The striped cotton hip belt can be removed by carabiner, it is infinitely adjustable and long enough to wear the hip bag also "crossbody", which is very comfortable for the shoulder thanks to the width of the belt.

As traditional as the tanning of leather is, new tanning processes (such as with olive leaf extract) and also the materials used as alternatives to animal skins are currently innovative, from mango and pineapple to cactus, corn and mushrooms. Italian company Frumat uses apples as a base material and uses it to make AppleSkin™, which serves as a paper, book cover material and vegan leather alternative in the fashion and furniture industries.
"Apple leather," as AppleSkin™ is also called, is made from the leftovers (peels, stems and fibers of the fruit) that are left over from juice production and are normally disposed of as organic waste - thus closing the loop and turning waste into resource-conserving raw material. In the process developed by Frumat founder Hannes Path, the apple residues are first dried and finely ground. The cellulose-rich powder is mixed with polyurethane and polyester and applied to a tear-resistant carrier fabric made of cotton and viscose, which is dyed with natural pigments and finally heated to make it weather-resistant and hard-wearing. Depending on how the AppleSkin™ is used, different textures can be embossed on the otherwise smooth surface to make the leather look perfect. Unlike real leather, however, AppleSkin™ is lighter and also feels slightly cooler. Like leather, it also shows the signs of use over time: it can get scratches and becomes slightly darker.
Cleaning and caring for your AppleSkin™ products is easy: use a damp cloth or soapy water and gently wipe the surface as needed. Do not use leather conditioners as they will attack the material.

Support trade, not aid. Under this motto, Paulien Wesselink founded her label O My Bag to produce bags with respect for the environment and people. The design is created at the company headquarters in Amsterdam, while production takes place in Kolkata, India - a conscious decision to offer local producers and their families fair wages and access to the global market.

The bags from O My Bag are characterized by a clear, functional style that is timelessly contemporary and corresponds to the durability of the material from which they are made: high-quality, vegetable-tanned leather. For Paulien Wesselink, leather is still a sensible option due to its low environmental impact, provided that it is tanned chrome-free and dyed with natural raw materials. GOTS-certified cotton is also used, but the label is also open to innovative materials: since 2021, O My Bag has been making bags and wallets from AppleSkin™, a vegan leather alternative.
