Hibi scented matches

They look like matches and are just as easy to use. However, the scented matches do not burn, but smoulder after lighting and then release their pleasant aroma for ten minutes. All you need is a fireproof base on which to place them - which is included in every pack. This means you can use the incense sticks anytime, anywhere and on any day and take a short break. This is also where the name of the incense matches comes from: Hibi means "day for day" or "daily" in Japanese. The small incense sticks are made of washi, not wood like conventional matches. They get most of their aroma from vegetable oils and raw materials, including frankincense, to which they owe their high quality. Some fragrances have to be produced synthetically so that the composition is heat-resistant. The aromas range from classic to originally Japanese, such as the yuzu scent or Japanese cypress.

The idea for these ingenious scented matches came from a Japanese match manufacturer. The search for a second mainstay - because the use of matches has been steadily declining for years and because he himself is an ardent fan of incense - gave him the idea of developing incense sticks in a miniature format. The right partner for this project was right on his doorstep, as the company's site in Hyogo Prefecture not only has a long tradition of producing matches, but also incense sticks. In 2011, Kobe Match (which has been manufacturing matches since 1929) and the Daihatsu incense factory, which was founded in 1897, began joint development work and launched the small, fragrant sticks onto the market three years later. Incidentally, the logo takes up the aspect of daily incense burning: It shows the Chinese character 日 for day twice.
