Because freshly ground simply tastes better

Home-ground grain behaves to packaged flour from the bag in about the same way as the home-grown vegetables from your own garden to greens from the supermarket. It simply tastes better and is richer. Because your own flour not only delivers the full flavor of the grain, but also all the minerals, vitamins and trace elements it contains. Ground and consumed as needed, it also retains all those volatile components that evaporate in industrially produced flour within a few hours once the grain has been broken up.
Our grain mill from Tyrolean manufacturer KoMo specializes in home use and, with its powerful 360-watt industrial motor, handles about 6 to 8 kg of grain in one go. Good to know: Thanks to an integrated bimetal switch, the unit shuts itself off automatically after 30-40 minutes of continuous operation, eliminating the possibility of overheating. By simply turning the top-mounted feed hopper, the grinding degree can be adjusted from fine (for fluffy whole grain flour) to coarse (for grist for fresh grain muesli). The spring-loaded, smooth-running grinding stones are among the best used in household grain mills. They are pressed from powdered corundum ceramic and fired in the kiln, are self-sharpening when the mill is used correctly, and are also easy to clean. To clean the millstones and the flour ejector, it is sufficient to coarsely grind an occasional handful of uncooked pointed grain rice or spelt grains. There is only one thing you should keep in mind: This mill is not suitable for oily seeds and grains such as poppy seeds or oats. Instead, it even grinds hard cereals such as the aforementioned rice, millet or corn, as well as legumes and coffee. If you want to grind pepper and other spices, you should consider beforehand that the flavor can transfer to the millstones and show through during later grinds. However, it is possible, for example, to grind the required cereal grains - such as rye, spelt, emmer or wheat - together with salt, bread spices and sunflower or pumpkin seeds. In this way, all the ingredients combine right from the start to form an aromatic blend: the in-house bread recipe.
The housing, feed hopper and lid of our mill are made of solid, distinctly grained black walnut wood. Particular care is taken with the classic wooden mortise and tenon joint, which is used to join the side parts of the housing together to form a stable whole. All steps - from woodworking to the installation of the motor unit - are carried out in a sheltered workshop for people with disabilities in Austria.
