Giboulée blanket

General Information
Voluminous, grippy and soft blanket made of Norwegian lambswool in a design by Inga Sempé, which the Norwegian textile company Røros Tweed has reissued exclusively for MAGAZIN. Giboulé is what the French call the heavy March rain typical of their country, which the two-tone pattern abstractly quotes. It shows thick, falling drops in a strong wind that spread diagonally from one side of the blanket to the other. Beautiful: the pattern appears in reverse on the reverse side. The chain stitching stabilizes the edges and picks up on the basic tone of the blanket.
The history of Røros Tweed
Selected wool from Norwegian sheep and collaborations with leading Scandinavian designers and textile artists have made Røros Tweed one of the most renowned manufacturers of 100% Norwegian branded goods. Røros Tweed, from the UNESCO World Heritage City of Røros in Norway, draws its quality and tradition from a unique history: the testamentary bequest of Peder Hiort, the childless director of the mine, in 1789 led to the establishment of a remarkable foundation. His fortune was used to provide training in textile manufacturing to those in need and to procure the necessary materials. This foundation bought the products of the textile workers and distributed the same garments as alms every year. Often the workers who had been paid for their work received the same garments back. This laid the foundation for a tradition of craftsmanship and textile production that later led to Røros Tweed, which today works closely with renowned Scandinavian designers and textile artists to produce high-quality products from 100% Norwegian wool. The inspiration comes from the surrounding mountain nature and the cultural heritage of Røros. Røros Tweed is known for its curtains, upholstery fabrics, throws and tweed, but the focus today is on high-quality wool blankets that combine tradition and modernity.
