Frankfurter Brett Oak wood
General Information
Organization is everything. Frankfurter Brett
The Frankfurt kitchen was a revolution in architecture in the 1920s. Today, it is considered the prototype of the modern fitted kitchen and was intended to streamline workflows around the stove, making ingredients, dishes, and all essential utensils accessible with a flick of the wrist. The design by architect Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky was conceived exclusively as a workstation for one person (the housewife, who possibly also had a gainful employment and did not have much time and leisure anyway) and mainly followed ergonomic and practical considerations. The same is true of Frankfurter Brett, which has the association in its name and takes Schütte-Lihotzky's idea further - on a smaller scale.
The kitchen workbench
The workstation at Frankfurter Brett is reduced to a large-format, four-centimeter-high cutting board made of hard, cross-laminated oak. All preparatory activities preceding the preparation or serving of food can be carried out on it. With its strength, the Frankfurter Brett may even serve as a base for cutting and pounding pieces of meat or filleting fish. All waste (onion skins, vegetable scraps, trimmings, bones) is quickly deposited with a simple movement in the stainless steel Gastronorm container provided and is collected for disposal. The stainless steel containers must be ordered separately. A set of seven is provided, which can also hold ingredients: Spices, fresh herbs, the salad just cut, the shaved zucchini and the flour in which they are to be turned. And the peeler, which is not needed at the moment, also finds its place next to knives and cutlery. The two designers of Frankfurter Bretthave long since proven that this system can withstand the fast, hectic everyday life in the professional kitchen. One is a chef himself, the other a graduate designer, and together they have invested three years of development time. The bracket system, made of load-bearing stainless steel rods, is patented and can be flexibly adjusted to accommodate containers of different sizes, either in combination or individually. Individual containers can also still be exchanged while working.
