Foot bag lambskin olive tanned
General Information
Really warm feet
With this footmuff made of soft, warming lambskin, cold feet are a thing of the past, even when sitting down. Because where the hot water bottle reaches its limits, as it can only warm the feet either from above or from below, the fur footmuff is superior in several respects: it completely encloses the feet - like a muff encloses the hands - and with them also the heat-insulating air stored in the fur. Lambskin is one of the warmest natural materials due to its dense, soft wool fleece. It is also temperature-regulating and can absorb a lot of moisture. When used as a foot pocket, it not only warms extremely well, but also ensures a pleasant, balanced foot climate. And last but not least: the skin-friendly fur stores body heat, so it doesn't require any energy and, as it is olive leaf tanned, can theoretically be disposed of in the compost - but you will have to sit warm and comfortable for quite a long time before that happens. But be careful: with so much comfort, it's easy to forget the world (and your feet). To avoid slapstick interludes, we recommend taking at least one foot out of your pocket before getting up, despite all the comfort ...
Environmentally friendly, kind to the skin. Olive leaf tanned lambskin
The Hofbrucker tannery in the Bavarian Forest manufactures the foot bag from vegetable-tanned lambskin. Only first-class skins from black-headed sheep are processed there. The lambskins are tanned using purely vegetable tanning agents made from olive leaves. The bitter substances they contain not only protect the olive tree against pests and rot, but are also suitable as a tanning agent. Only the olive leaves that are left over from the annual pruning and would otherwise be burned are used to produce the tanning agent. A syrupy tanning agent is produced from them under food conditions, which could even be tasted if it were not so bitter. Finally, no other substances are required for tanning. This is why the skins tanned with it are absolutely harmless to humans and the environment. As they are also very well tolerated by the skin, they are particularly suitable for use as bedding, and olive leaf tanned skins have a soft leather side and a very light, almost white wool coat, making them significantly lighter in color than most other types of tanning.
Family tradition since 1948. Natural skins from the Hofbrucker tannery
The Hofbrucker tannery in the Bavarian Forest is one of the few companies that still have a fully integrated production in Germany. From the processing of the rawhide to the confection and to control of the final product - everything is done under one roof. The family business has specialized in the tanning of sheepskins and lambskins. Only the best skins are hand-sorted on site and differentiated and assessed according to characteristics such as size, wool fineness, skin texture, wool height and preservation: After all, only excellent raw material can ultimately produce a top-quality product. Tanning and further processing are carried out with the utmost care and as gently as possible in order to preserve the high quality and natural aesthetics of the lambskins.
The same high standards apply to production as to the raw material, so that the manufacturing process is as sustainable as possible and as environmentally friendly as necessary. To this end, Hofbrucker invests in new technology, uses electricity from its own photovoltaic system and is planning its own wastewater treatment plant. For all its modernity, Hofbrucker upholds the traditional tanner's craft and passes on its knowledge to the next, now fourth, generation. This is how durable natural skins are created, which will give you pleasure for a long time with the right care.
Note
If the coat is slightly soiled, it can be treated with a damp cloth and a wool care product or hair shampoo. The water must not penetrate the leather. In general, the leather side must not come into contact with water. For heavier soiling, professional cleaning in a tannery is recommended.
