Easter eggs lace motifs

Lace doilies may not be everyone's cup of tea, but a "lacey" decoration very much so. Filigree lace patterns enjoy a long tradition in Erzgebirge folk art, and so these Easter eggs are also turned from the solid wood of hornbeam and decorated with the lace motif by precise pad printing. The dots around each egg are finally painted on by hand. The sextet comes from a Seiffener manufactory, in which their craftsman father the turning and turning, carving and grinding was laid as it were in the cradle: Wolfgang Werner was born into a long-established family of toy makers. In addition to his moving constructions - such as swing figures, pendulum riders and running animals - the experienced toymaker also likes to take traditional pendants like these out of the lathe. In the Easter bouquet, the Easter eggs make themselves just as decorative as a colorful decoration of the festive table or a small Easter gift.

The fact that a famous wood art developed in the originally densely forested Erzgebirge is not only explained by the availability of the material. As a branch of industry, handicrafts became all the more important as the local mining industry rapidly lost resources and profitability. Folk art slipped into this gap, which mining - no less than Christmas - still shaped with numerous motifs. A center of wood art emerged around Seiffen, where one of the first specialized trade schools was founded in 1853 to promote handicrafts. In the so-called Toy Corner, small and large craft businesses still produce the classics of the folk art of the Erzgebirge: from hoop animals and smoking men to miner figures and nutcrackers to candle arches and wing pyramids.
