Earrings Murano glass

The lagoon isle of Murano off the coast of Venice is still an important production site for precious glass. This is where the gaffers create these dazzlingly coloured glass beads in the best craftsmanship tradition. The Pforzheim jewellery workshop combines them with small, high-quality clasps, resulting in this unique Murano jewellery. The beads get their shape, colour and beauty in the blazing heat of the glass blowing workshop. The resulting glass is almost unbreakable thanks to a very high component of aluminium oxide. The workshops involved in the production will not release any further information about the composition of the raw materials and the colour formulas. However, we can explain the typical shimmer: After separating the raw bead from the glass rod, the gaffer puts a fine layer of gold or silver foil on the bead’s surface and then covers the foil with another layer of clear or coloured glass.
