Doll house attic
General Information
A roof over your head. Massive security
Dolls are people - or rather, dolls are the people we need. For children, they are their own inner life and counterpart at the same time. They represent social relationships, offer safety, security and drama, they are symbol, friend and identification figure - they are "real" life. And because they are also gradually becoming independent beings in the imaginative play of your children, dolls need - as privacy and space for self-determination - their own roof over their heads.
Whether as an urban attic apartment or as a typical northern German vacation home by the sea: Of course, the roof and floor should be solid and secure, after all, they must be able to withstand the landlord's remodeling, rearrangements and, not least, the wild pillow fights of its inhabitants. Should the family planning of the doll family require it, extension possibilities are also of great advantage. Such requirements are easily met by the attic of our dollhouse. And as solidly built as it is from solid black alder wood, it is also designed in an understated manner. Interior decoration and finishing are entrusted to the creative ideas and imaginations of your child and are thus oriented to the needs of its doll inhabitants. Each attic is spacious enough for singles, couples and small families alike to feel at home in. In addition to the open front, the large skylights allow unimpeded access and free direction - even when life under this roof turns a little more boisterous. And should in time a proper extended family with family dog and budgie seek shelter, so the attic can be combined with the help of the floor apartment to the steadfast apartment house.
Durable alder wood. Sustained playfulness
A small, Chiemgau-based family carpenter's workshop produces big things. Not big in the sense of huge and enormous, but big in our sense of the word: wooden toys that are skillfully crafted from high-quality materials and designed with long-lasting playfulness in mind. The workshop attaches the greatest importance to a child-friendly, purist design that leaves room for the imagination to run wild, and a manufacturing process that consistently follows ecological criteria - artificially colorful pop effects are no longer necessary.
The preferred material for their designs is black alder wood. Black alder is experiencing a renaissance, and not only in the toy sector. Its finely textured, elastic and load-bearing wood, with its even surface, is also popular in model, furniture and instrument making. In addition, alder is one of the woods with the highest water resistance (for example, it is said that a large part of Venice's pile foundations, which still exist today, were built on alder piles).
The family-run workshop processes only high-quality black alder wood. It makes sure that the wood has been well dried and stored (to prevent tensile stresses and stress cracks) and can therefore be sawn, turned and sanded smooth very well. Finally, the wood surface is treated with linseed oil or beeswax, free of harmful substances. In this way, the natural structure of the wood remains visible and the natural warmth of color tone and feel is pleasantly emphasized.
