Devona natural soap

The reputation of the Bergisches Land (unlike its name) extends far beyond the borders of the Rhineland. It owes this not only to Cologne Cathedral, but primarily to discoveries in Neandertal, knives from Solingen, the textile industry and ribbon weaving and, of course, the region's many celebrities such as Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen and Ferdinand Sauerbruch, Friedrich Engels and Johannes Rau, Else Lasker-Schüler and Pina Bausch, to name but a few.

And - as we have known for some years now - one of the oldest forests on earth was located here, or rather one of the first forest-like formations. Fossil finds of so-called calamophytons in the Lindlar quarry prove this. The prehistoric ferns have been dated to the Middle Devonian, which means they are 390 million years old and are considered to be the first real trees. In the tropical climate of the time, they grew on a sand island in the shallow sea and formed a small forest there. Presumably a tsunami washed the plants into the sea, where they fossilized, covered in sand and mud.

As always, a coincidence got the story rolling: During their filming, actors* were staying in a natural lake near the Lindlar quarry for a scene. They noticed that the lake mud had an amazingly cleansing and beneficial effect on their skin. Quarry owner Walter Lob and colleague Matthias Remmel then had the mud analyzed: The cause was the rock flour contained in the plant fossils from the quarry. And the question arose as to how the cleansing power of the rock flour could be used. The idea for soap production and a master boiling expert were quickly found. The soap is boiled using a gentle cold-stirring process and contains only natural ingredients. The added ground ancient plant rock provides a gentle exfoliating effect. Almond oil, castor oil, black cumin oil and shea butter nourish and care for the skin. Devona natural soap is pH-neutral, cleanses gently and thoroughly with minimal consumption and neutralizes odours - without added fragrances. Suitable for hands, hair and body.
