Desk fountain pen

YStudio - a young-staffed, experimental design studio in Taiwan - is dedicated to the design and production of brass and copper writing instruments. Unlike the many others who have similar things up their sleeves, YStudio has gone beyond the usual suspects to develop devices that are typologically rare, if not unique: for example, a fountain pen that has desk, desk or secretary as its permanent location. Consequently, it comes without a cap, but with a heavy conical base made of brass (raw or black lacquered), in which it always stands ready to write with the nib pointing downwards. Although this means that the device is tied to a specific location, this is also an advantage, because it means that the fountain pen is very likely to remain in place and therefore at hand - especially since it cannot be easily transported without a cap.
The hexagonal housing made of brass or copper has a pleasing heaviness in the hand. The desk fountain pen is equipped with a gold-plated steel nib of the strength M and an ink guide from the German manufacturer Schmidt. A converter of the same provenance is also included, so that this writing instrument can be operated with loose ink as well as with standard cartridges (as our Kaweco cartridges are).
