Rich taste, (almost) no caffeine
Decaf de Caña is an innovative and natural process in which the caffeine in coffee is removed with the help of sugar cane juice. The coffee is fermented with water and a special mixture of sugar cane juice. The advantages of the process are obvious: no chemical solvents are required and the aromas (and therefore the taste) of the coffee are better preserved. However, such a coffee is not completely caffeine-free: around 97 percent of the caffeine is removed. For its Decaf de Caña, Man versus Machine uses coffee beans from the Huila region in southern Colombia, which is known for its diverse nature, breathtaking landscapes and some of the best coffee in the country. Grown at altitudes between 1,200 and 2,100 meters above sea level, the beans are a combination of the Castillo variety, an originally Colombian variety with a full-bodied and fruity character, and the originally Brazilian Caturra variety, which is known for its mild taste with pleasant acidity and sweet notes. Accordingly, the Decaf de Caña from Man versus Machine is characterized by sweet, creamy notes and nuances of tropical fruits.

Based in Munich's Glockenbach district, the coffee manufacturer "Man versus Machine" was founded in 2014. Since then, the dedicated company has made a name for itself far beyond the city limits. Only Arabica coffee beans are processed, which are roasted in small batches to ensure that each coffee can develop its full aroma. We offer the coffees from "Man versus Machine" as whole beans and have selected varieties that are equally suitable for preparation as filter coffee and espresso. And if you are ever in Munich: "Man versus Machine" also runs its own coffee bar, where you can experience the art of coffee preparation on site and sample the different types of coffee. By the way: all coffees from "Man versus Machine" can call themselves "specialty coffees". This distinction is awarded at professional cuppings (tastings), where certified coffee tasters, so-called Q-graders, evaluate the coffees visually and sensorially. Coffees with 80 or more points on a 100-point scale can call themselves "Specialty Coffee".
