Coudre Berlin scented candle

Warmth and freshness come together in harmony: the warm, spicy scent of coriander seeds is perfectly complemented by the fresh, sweet notes of lime peel.

"Coudre" means "to sew". When it comes to scented candles, the name of the Berlin label may be confusing, but before the scented candles came fashion, or more precisely: a new menswear collection. It all began in 2016, when Berliners Dimitri Moustakidis and Daniel Diederich had just launched their first collection of timeless basics and were now looking for ways to add an atmospheric touch to their creations. After all, fashion is not just a piece of fabric on the body; clothing also reflects a mood. Fashion and mood from a single source: the two designers finally decided on candles that would capture an atmosphere olfactorily and inspire at the same time. Moustakidis and Diederich developed their first fragrance compositions in a small kitchen in Prenzlauer Berg - with the aim of using only natural raw materials and ingredients. Once they had found a scent that appealed to them, they captured it in the candles - and poured each individual candle by hand.

Little by little, a whole series of scented candles was created. Despite the success of their creations and compositions, Coudre Berlin continues to attach great importance to meticulous craftsmanship. Each scented candle is still poured by hand in a Berlin workshop and only natural ingredients are used. The vegetable wax is made from sunflower and olive oil, while the olfactory ingredient is pure essential oils. Practical additional benefit: The scented candles are poured into brewing jars with Bakelite® screw-on lids. Once all wax residue has been removed and thoroughly cleaned, the jars can be reused as storage containers.

When burning the candle for the first time, please allow it to burn until the entire surface has liquefied. Only then will the fragrance molecules dissolve completely and the fragrance can unfold optimally. This also prevents a funnel and ultimately a tunnel from forming in the wax. To extinguish the flame, simply dip the wick briefly into the wax with a match and put it back in place. This prevents soot from forming and the candle burns well again. The next time you light the candle, make sure that the wick is not too long; it is best to shorten it regularly to 0.5 centimeters. Wax residue on the glass wall can be liquefied by briefly placing the glass in the oven at 60 °C. If you wish to continue using the jar, please remove any wax residue and clean the jar with hot water and washing-up liquid.
