Copper mug with brass handle
General Information
Copper Mugs for the Strong Stuff.
Vodka, ginger beer, and a dash of lime juice was the cocktail recipe for success for the Smirnoff brand of Russian vodka in 1940s USA. The Moscow Mule, as this uncomplicated long drink was christened by its inventors, is traditionally served in a copper mug. Produced in Italy, the origin of the raw material, this mug is handcrafted in a small factory in Naples. A round cut from a blank copper sheet is mechanically punched and pressed into the mug shape. It is deburred, cleaned and carefully polished to a shine, and then the brass handle is attached to it with sturdy copper rivets.
