Convolute Florentine papers

Sheet goods do make sense - we offer them too - but not always. For small items (CD, DVD, book, jeweled earrings), much smaller papers would suffice. But cost-saving stockpiling would also be an advantage. The perfect solution was kindly brought to us by the representatives of the gift wrap manufacturers themselves: for the presentation of their collections, they provide sample books that can be conveniently carried in book form. They left one of them, which is no longer current, permanently with our buyer responsible for the office assortment, and he soon discovered that he was thus supplied with suitable wrapping paper throughout the year, with few exceptions. So what could be more obvious than to directly offer such a "sample book" with various wrapping papers in 35 × 25 cm format? We therefore had a wrapping paper book produced in the style of the sample books, which brings together 50 variants of highly refined Florentine papers in a volume encompassed by the cover paper of our catalogs. The individual papers, some of which we also supply in sheet form, are perforated and can be conveniently separated out (which naturally reduces their size minimally; the 33.5 × 25 cm format taken out corresponds roughly to an eighth of a sheet of the standard sheet format). The remaining stock can then disappear again inconspicuously in the drawer or even on the bookshelf until the next use.

For a long time, the almost exclusively common sheet format almost inevitably turns the thrifty user of wrapping paper into an archivist: bold-eyed, he estimates how much of the 70 × 100 cm sheet in front of him he really needs and simply cuts off the superfluous area. The rest then disappears into a drawer with the remains of his predecessors and waits there patiently for its still possible use in small-format gifts. And waits. And waits. And waits. It is not at all the case that gift wrap manufacturers do not also offer smaller formats. They do, but preferably in packaged gift sets: a small-format paper, a ribbon and possibly a greeting card, all wrapped in transparent film and, as it were, the gift wrap menu for immediate consumption, speculating that the gift and wrapping will be purchased at the same time (and at a high unit price, as far as the paper is concerned).
