Comforter cover washed linen
General Information
Soft by pre-washing. Linen bed linen
Textiles made of linen are usually not processed further after being made up, but this linen bedding from the Portuguese manufacturer Sampedro is pre-shrunk, as it is called in technical jargon. This special pre-washing process reduces the initial stiffness typical of linen fabrics, so that the bed linen has a pleasantly soft feel even when it is first put on. This is due to the fact that during the shrinking process, as well as later during washing, the long linen fibers are kinked and thus the fabric becomes somewhat softer with each wash cycle. Secondly, it changes the look, giving the linen a more vibrant surface and making it appear more voluminous. If you prefer a smooth look, simply iron the bed linen, it will regain the smooth surface. However, make sure that the bed linen is always slightly damp when ironing, we also recommend drying the bed linen on the line and not in the dryer. So you protect the fabric and again extend the life of the already durable linen.
Fine stripes from strong yarn
Another special feature brings this striped linen bedding due to its weave: The fine ochre stripes are woven, not printed, into the white linen-bonded base. The colored yarn is stronger than the one used for the base, which is rather fine with a yarn count of Nm 26.5. This ensures a flowing fall of the fabric, which is also pleasantly light with a material weight of 150 g/m. The covers are to close with wooden buttons.
Linen in summer.
In summer there is no better material for bedding than linen. Due to the smooth surface of linen fibers, the fabric feels pleasant on the skin, it is dirt, therefore pollen repellent and easy to clean. Linen can (dissipate) heat very well and at the same time absorb a lot of moisture without feeling damp. In addition, it also quickly dissipates the moisture again and is thus perceived as cooling.
Sampedro. Bed linen from Portugal
Sampedro is one of the most prestigious textile manufacturers in Portugal. What started in 1921 with a small linen weaving mill producing sheets and towels, has now become an international player in the home textile sector. As one of the first companies in Portugal, Sampedro also began to produce checked, striped and printed fabrics - a novelty (traditionally, people in Portugal tend to use white linen), which brought Sampedro some fame and also economic success. Today, the product range includes all textiles for hotel and private use, with bed linen still being one of the core competencies. Production takes place entirely at the company's headquarters near Guimarães in northern Portugal, a traditional European textile region. From the initial design to weaving, bleaching, dyeing and printing to finishing and making up, everything takes place there under one roof. Traditional weaving craft and the most modern textile technology intertwine in the processing coordinated and ultimately bring forth textiles of outstanding quality.
