    General Information

Finely striped in a horizontal pattern

If you look at the pure linen bed linen from a distance, it initially appears mottled. It is only on closer inspection that the fine stripes can be seen, which here run crosswise and not lengthwise as is often the case. In the light-colored (white-blue) linen, the stripes are blue and the background is white. The red and blue and white covers have white stripes on a colored background. The Hoffmann weaving mill in Lusatia only uses linen made from European long-fiber flax. The yarn used here is quite fine with a thickness of Nm 26 and produces a fabric that is as fine as it is light with a soft, slightly grainy feel.

    Lusatian linen

Upper Lusatia is one of the European textile regions with a long tradition of linen weaving. The Leinenweberei Hoffmann is one of the few companies to have survived there to this day, thanks to the wealth of experience it has accumulated and cultivated and its comparatively early specialization in jacquard weaving and embroidery. With nationalization in the 1970s, individuality and the production of pure linen declined noticeably. It was not until the company was reprivatized in 1994 that it was able to resume work on the old looms and thus continue the tradition of Oberlausitz linen. The company has been weaving and manufacturing at its headquarters in Neukirch in Lusatia since 1905.

Bed Linen. Made of Pure Linen.

Before cotton arrived in Europe, bed linen was usually made of linen, as the name suggests. There were good reasons for this. Linen is antistatic by nature and tends not to attract dust. Thanks to its smooth texture, it feels comfortable against the skin and is easy to wash. Linen is a good conductor of heat and absorbs moisture without actually giving off a damp feeling. Besides, it releases the moisture quickly afterwards, which is why it is perceived as pleasantly cooling. We recommend linen fabrics in particular for the summer.
