Hall mat coconut velour

Floor mats are as much a part of the Schär range as the famous red carpet. Schär manufactures coconut mats in a traditional weave (coconut velour extra double) with a dense, rough pile. This is in an extra-wide format so that three to four pairs of shoes can be placed neatly next to each other on it. The mat is a decent 24 mm thick and is fully latexed underneath.

Coconut fibres are somewhat bulky to work with, but have unique properties: they store excess humidity and thus harmonize the room climate, they do not absorb dust and are easy to clean. Exposed to extreme stresses in nature, coconut fibers are correspondingly resistant - products made from them last "forever". Coconut is flame retardant, sound and heat insulating, breathable and antistatic. Colored goods should not be constantly exposed to strong sunlight. Coconut carpets have a rustic and rather rough surface structure; the typical irregularities in the yarn are unavoidable.

In the idyllic Eisenschmitt in the middle of the Volcanic Eifel, Schär has been processing coir fibers into high-quality carpets and mats for industrial, commercial and private households for over 75 years. Schär sources the natural coconut fibers from India and Sri Lanka, and all of the processing steps are carried out on site: on old mechanical, environmentally friendly production facilities, the likes of which can hardly be found anywhere else in Germany.
