Quality and fair. Fashion by Claudia Lanius
As a German pioneer in sustainable fashion, designer Claudia Lanius once founded her family business in Cologne. Today, her daughter Annabelle Homann is also at the helm. Together they work on new fashion visions that are fit for the future. The work of LANIUS takes place in the field of tension between three factors: firstly, fashionable design with sophisticated cuts and shapes, secondly, the use of certified raw materials and thirdly, the guarantee of fair working conditions - always keeping in mind the quality standard that is above all.
Selected raw materials, clear designs. Combinable
The idea behind LANIUS' designs is to create timeless basic pieces on the one hand and changing, varied collections on the other. However, the clothing from these annual collections naturally also aims to accompany its wearer for years to come and to remain interesting in the long term thanks to a constant stream of new combinations. LANIUS takes a close look when it comes to choosing the right materials. These mainly come from organic farming and are controlled and certified, such as the organic cotton and organic virgin wool used. They are certified by independent bodies such as the OCS (Organic Cotton Standard) and in accordance with the GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard). The fair fashion label also focuses on natural raw materials such as linen or hemp fibers, which are grown organically, require hardly any pesticides or herbicides per se and require little watering. Only gentle and tested chemicals are used to process the garments. LANIUS also ensures that transportation routes are as short and environmentally friendly as possible.
Fair working conditions
The social compatibility component is just as important to Lanius as the considered choice of raw materials. As a matter of principle, orders are only placed with companies that demonstrably guarantee fair working conditions and good social standards. Or as Claudia Lanius puts it: "It is very important to us to get to know each of our production companies personally and to strengthen the business relationship through regular visits. We have been working with our producers in this way for many years. For us, personal contact and good cooperation are by far the most important success factors for the success of unique and high-quality textiles."
