"Ois wird rund" is the motto of a small manufactory in Styria, where master turner Lukas Lettmayer creates his wooden works of art and always also the characteristic peculiarities of the wood blank, from which he "frees the form", keeps in mind and incorporates into the work.

For the tree ornaments Lettmayer processes the natural wood of the native stone pine (Pinus cembra, also known as Arve), a tree native to the Alpine region, which grows preferentially at altitudes of 1,500 to 2,000 meters. In this rather harsh climate, the robust Swiss stone pine grows very slowly, so that its annual rings follow each other closely. This is also the reason for its fine-grained wood, which is very easy to work with as solid wood. However, its popularity in furniture making and carving pine wood owes not only its uniform, fine-grained texture, but especially its unusually high content of essential oils and resins: to them is the tart-aromatic scent to owe, gently reminiscent of a soothing walk through the forest.

By the way: moths feel the scent of pine long not as connected as people, pine wood is therefore also gladly used as a natural moth protection. So after the holidays, you do not have to banish this Christmas decoration in boxes and basements, but can just as well put it between your laundry and use its spicy scent throughout the year.
