Christmas tree ornaments mouth blown Santa Claus
General Information
Santa Claus with double role
A Santa Claus with Janus face, which refers to his traditional double role: on the one hand, the full of praise smiling bearer of gifts, on the other hand, the serious-looking saint, who also sometimes pronounces a rebuke (and then still conjures up a gift). From the Christmas decorated tree, this Santa Claus probably does not distribute gifts, but instead the festive glow in classic Christmas colors.
Traditional glassblowing art from Thuringia: Original historical molds were painstakingly restored for this hand-blown Christmas tree ornament. In the case of the double-faced Santa Claus, it is a combination of the classic German form of the 19th century with that Santa Claus as he emerged since the 1930s with the US lemonade advertising. Each Santa Claus is carefully handcrafted using Liebig's silver-plating process to give the glass ornament the greatest possible radiance (silver is particularly effective at reflecting incident light). After drying, the tree ornament is painted by hand, decorated with mica and finally fitted in style with the classic metal hat for the hanger.
Pure Matter of Form. Christmas tree ornaments between handicraft and mass production
The glassblowers of Lauscha used to call the figurative glass ornaments, which were blown into two-part negative molds "before the lamp", a matter of form. Today, as then, the lamp is the gas burner, whose flame keeps the glass viscous and malleable. And the molds that are used are also the same as 100 or 150 years ago. They are usually made of ceramic and must be handled with care, because in order to preserve them - and not overheat them in use - the molds must be gently cooled down again at regular intervals. Thus, no more than 150 figures or ornaments can be blown in one go. Only the starting material is different than in the past, because instead of glass tubes drawn specifically for this purpose, prefabricated flasks made of colorless soda-lime glass are now used.
Hint:
This product is an example of genuine handicraft; therefore, minor deviations in size and colour may occur.
