This Christmas bauble is a prima ballerina born to perform solo - and is less intended to fit into the ensemble of your Christmas tree (unless you have a three- or four-meter tree, in which case you may have enough stage to bring self-confident ballerinas together in a joint choreography). And so this Christmas bauble with its diameter of 15 centimetres, the shiny red colouring and the gold-coloured Star Crown® inevitably attracts attention: as a decorative element in the entrance area as well as at the window, in the decorative bowl as well as on the festively laid table.

The hand-blown glass ball owes its brilliant color to Liebig's silver-plating process, in which a silver nitrate solution is filled into the ball. Under the influence of heat, the silver is deposited as a wafer-thin film on the inside wall of the sphere - the sphere is "mirrored" from the inside. This process causes the sphere to reflect the incident light particularly well and the outer layer of color shines brilliantly.

The Christmas bauble is made by a family business in Upper Franconia that has been dedicated to producing glass Christmas decorations for generations: As early as 1597, ancestor Christoph Müller founded the mother glassworks in Lauscha and, together with the Swabian Hans Greiner, laid the foundations for Thuringia's famous glass industry. At the beginning of the 1950s, the young Heinz Müller-Blech fled the former GDR and set up his own glassblowing business in Neustadt near Coburg. Since then, the local manufactory has produced a diverse collection of hand-blown glass jewelry that combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. Over the centuries, the manufactory has amassed around 15,000 historical glassblowing molds in its model shop, as well as a constantly growing collection of modern molds. At the end of the 1980s, the manufactory registered the Sternkrönchen® as a trademark: it symbolizes the traditional, artful production by hand that makes each piece of jewelry a small, high-quality one-off.
