Typical for the Chelsea boot are, in addition to the over-ankle shape, the side rubber inserts. Through them, the shoe gets its elasticity and its comfort, even after hours of wear it sits comfortably. This Celsea from Carlos Santos is Goodyear welted. Loops on the edge of the shaft make it easy to put on.

Tradition, innovation, design and passion are the cornerstones that distinguish the Portuguese shoe manufacturer Carlos Santos since its founding in 1942. Even then, Carlos Santos cultivated the Goodyear process, which replicates the classic welt stitching with machine assistance. To this day, the company has stuck to it, making it one of the few remaining Portuguese companies in this tradition. Each pair of shoes undergoes a process comprising more than 200 steps, in which the machines only ever supplement the actual manual work at sensible points. Because, in addition, the eye for detail in the design and craftsmanship care in the production of the often classic, but always contemporary-looking models, Carlos Santos has long earned a worldwide reputation.

Uppers made of chrome tanned calfskin, 1.3–1.5 mm thick, aniline dyed and multiply polished by hand. The lining is also calfskin, vegetable tanned and undyed. Insole made of cowhide, outer sole made of oak bark tanned cowhide. Layered leather heels with brass nails. Cork bottom filling. Comes in dark brown.
This shoe is sewn in Portugal with the Goodyear welt procedure in a factory with more than 70 years’ experience in the manufacture of premium quality shoes. The typical Chelsea side inserts are made of rubber. With loops on the shanks to aid in pulling on the boots.
