Our plant milk bag is made of pure, undyed linen. Its shape, unlike a cheesecloth, is entirely designed for the production of nut milk and grain milk: Made up as a round bag, it fits the vessel wall well without throwing many wrinkles where pomace could collect. A small, useful detail: all seams are carefully chained and are on the outside, so that after straining or draining, the nut and grain residues can be easily spread out to dry and nothing can get caught in the seams. Equally practical is the double cord, with which the bag can be closed well and evenly, attached to the vessel or hung up to dry.
The cereal and nut milk bag can be used just as well for anything else that needs to be finely strained: for fruit juices and jams, consommés or sauces and, of course, to drain curd or yogurt, for example, to make your own fresh cheese or even Labneh, which you often look for in vain in stores in this country. (For Labneh Greek or Turkish yogurt in the nut milk bag, in a sieve over a bowl several hours, preferably overnight, in the refrigerator to drain).
Almond and oat milk easy to make yourself.
Plant milk from nuts, almonds or cereals is a good alternative to cow's milk for many. The selection in the supermarket is now very diverse, only the packaging is, with rare exceptions, still made of composite plastic. Yet oat milk & co. can be produced quite easily yourself. This saves resources, especially since you can rely entirely on regional ingredients and usually reuse the pomace. All you need is a cheesecloth - even better with our linen nut and cereal milk bag - a blender or blender and, of course, nuts or cereals and something to sweeten as needed; some recipes require a little oil. In addition to almonds and hazelnuts, oats, spelt and rice, millet, buckwheat, peas, lupins and hemp are also suitable. We have selected two simple recipes for you, with which you can start right away.
Almond milk: 150 g almonds soak overnight, preferably in the refrigerator, thereby also dissolve the skins. Depending on your taste, finely puree or blend the almonds with or without the skins with 1 liter of water, for a little sweetness add 2-3 soaked dates (more or less dates depending on your taste, they can be soaked with the almonds). Drain the mixture through the nut milk bag and squeeze. The milk is ready! Spread the rest in the bag and let it dry. The pomace is great to use (even roasted) for baking or for the morning cereal.
rice milk: 200 g rice, 1 liter water, 2-3 dates (depending on taste), 1-3 tablespoons neutral oil or nut oil (for example, our walnut oil). Cook the rice according to package directions, put all ingredients in blender, puree and strain in nut milk bag, ready!
