Every child knows, or at least figures out very quickly, that a ball rolls if you just put it on an inclined plane. But that an elongated object like the centipede can zigzag downward completely on its own, roll over in a flowing transition and not get wedged in the process: Now that really is a small miracle in children's eyes. A miracle that you have to check over and over again and watch in suspense - even adults find it hard to resist the fascination that emanates from this cascade tower.

We should know, because of course we tried it out and at the same time convinced ourselves of the quality of craftsmanship of the cascade tower. Standing sturdily on a base plate of solid birch plywood, the tower and cascade steps are made of solid beech wood, the fine clear varnish allows the natural hue and grain of the material to shine through while still revealing the warm feel of the wood. The centipede, also made of beech wood right down to its axles, is stained in the primary colors of red, yellow and blue: a wise decision, because this allows you to observe exactly how the little wooden worm rolls over when it changes direction. The centipede masters its path smoothly: its proportions are optimally adapted to the cascade steps and the wheels roll so smoothly and briskly that it immediately picks up speed.

And while your child places the centipede on the first step again and again and nudges it lightly to encourage it to run through, it trains its fine motor skills in a completely playful way and trains its visual perception: Has it really rolled over? He has - and he can do it all by himself!

For gentle play children are less known, their toys must be able to offer some resistance.
