Caran d'Ache pencil sharpener

Use this machine as part of a weekly ceremony in which you sharpen all your pencils the way you want. It will do this for you with Swiss precision – or rather, for your pencils, taking coloured, graphite or lead pencils from 4 up to 10 mm in diameter. It weighs 1 kg and can be clamped on to a table edge (not more than 7.5 cm thick). There’s a drawer to collect the shavings.

There’s the traditional way, involving the use of knives, special blades (not to sharp, not to blunt), sandpaper etc. Even so, the lead often breaks and you have to start again. This won’t happen with our Swiss machine: it’s the epitome of effortless efficiency.

The introduction of the first mechanical refill holder in 1929 established the fame of the Fabrique Suisse de Crayons Caran d’Ache founded in 1924 and now the last remaining writing instrument manufacturer in Switzerland. To this day, all products without exception are manufactured in Thônex near Geneva, this with the utmost precision.
