Bracelet Milanaise

Braided precious metal jewelry was already known in the culture of the Etruscans. The milanaise, the Milanese braid in other words, goes back to the medieval manufacture of iron armored shirts: wire spirals are wound and screwed into each other until a kind of flexible carpet is formed. In this bracelet, the initially flat braid is rolled into a round tube.

In the art of machine chain production, Pforzheim has always been a leader - and still is today. Not least because of the intricate techniques in which metal links are joined together, the manufacture of chains is considered the "high school" of jewelry making.
