Blanket baby alpaca

Fine alpaca is among the most valuable natural fibres in the world. It possesses a natural sheen and for all its fineness is very durable. As a hollow fibre, it has an extraordinary capacity for heat compensation. The long, smooth fibres come in more than 20 different shades from natural white to rich dark brown, from light grey to dark anthracite.

We have pure Peruvian Baby-Alpaca processed for this blanket. It is often taken from the first shearing from younger animals, however, if fleece shorn from adult animals has a fibre fineness between 20.1 and 23 microns it is also called Baby-Alpaca. At a fibre fineness between 21.5 and 22.5 microns, the Baby Alpaca that we could acquire is tremendously soft and pliant. It is slightly tinted to produce a unified colouration, and afterwards, it's spun into yarn, twisted and woven into blankets; all work steps are carried out locally in Peru. The fibres get no chemical treatment; they just get a wash, are tumbled and lightly napped. The World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) has confirmed that the process of manufacture (the blanket is made entirely in Peru) meets the criteria of the organisation and has approved the corresponding payment of the Peruvian craftsmen.
