Blanket baby alpaca

The fine hair of alpacas is one of the most valuable natural fibers of all. It has a natural sheen and is still very resistant despite its fineness. As a hollow fiber, the hair also has outstanding heat balancing properties.

Baby alpaca is even finer, softer and more supple. As a rule, fibers with a fineness of up to 22 micrometers are referred to as baby alpaca. Contrary to what the name suggests, it does not necessarily have to come from a young animal. Adult animals can also have such fine hair - and are then particularly valuable for breeding. For this blanket, we use pure Peruvian baby alpaca, which is lightly tinted to achieve a uniform coloration. The fibers (with a fineness of 17.5 microns) are spun - also in Peru - into yarns, twisted and woven into these blankets, which are not further chemically treated - they are simply washed, milled and then slightly roughened. The blankets are made entirely in Peru and their production and the payment of Peruvian craftsmen meet the criteria of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO).
