Black Sheep Aran sweater

This crew neck sweater’s "scent" has no words to describe it. It comes from the lanolin: the ‘wool-wax’ that was used in ancient times for medicinal purposes – the natural oil of the wool, which is left unbleached and non-dyed for this pullover. The Raglan sleeves serve a double function: they make the pullover more pleasant to wear, and at the same time serve to enhance the traditional Aran Isle pattern that runs down the sleeve from neck to cuff. The seams are in 1/1 rib-knit and offer a perfect tailored fit.

From the strong and durable wool of the Black Welsh Mountain Sheep (in Welsh: Defaid Mynydd Duon), a small-grown, robust and frugal breed of sheep that has its home in the barren Welsh hills, this warming garment is knitted. The wool is processed natural and undyed, the way of knitting brings out its natural multicolor especially well. The voluminous knitted fabric offers a lot of yarn supply in a small space: this favors the good heat retention capacity of the wool fiber without compromising its air permeability. The wool still contains a lot of lanolin, their natural properties remain the elastic knit so tangibly - for this it is still slightly oily to the touch and smells a little like sheep.
