Bird nesting box oak wood
General Information
Rather ingenious.
To begin with, the result of the manufacturing process is rather opulent: this nesting box is made of solid, oiled oak in a generous thickness. To add even more durability to the box, the manufacturer in Poland is joining the parts with solidly bolted connections instead of applying the usual staples. Secondly, the design of the nesting box consists of two sections: an inner section that is fastened to the wall and a frame which is slid over the inner section and secured with a small hook. If the inside of the nesting box needs cleaning the frame is simply slid off, leaving behind the inner section on the wall.
A reminder:
Oak is by nature a tannin-rich wood. Please be aware that if you attach the nest box to the wall of the house, during exposure to weathering the material could stain the façade.
New Homes. Nesting Aids and Feeders for Your Garden.
Some of the natural clutter that one should expect all the way around in the countryside is missing almost everywhere in our tidy landscapes. Large agricultural areas are hardly fringed by bushes and hedges anymore; plus, we immediately cut back faded flowers and remove prunings and leaves in our gardens. As a result, there are fewer natural habitats for beneficial insects and, incidentally, our native songbirds. Nesting aids and feeders are the means of choice both to revitalise the garden and positively impact the local ecosystem. By allowing beneficial insects to settle in the garden, you find pesticides are no longer necessary and get the opportunity for enlightening observations. They will turn your garden into a place of species conservation and nature discovery. Since each animal prefers a typical format, you can address certain species in a relatively targeted way just by choosing the respective nesting aid. We have chosen environmentally friendly, durable and attractive materials for our nesting aids and feeders.
Note:
Due to the high tannic acid content of oak wood, blue-black discoloration can occur on the wood surface in combination with moisture and in contact with ferrous metals. In addition, the so-called tannins can be washed out by rainwater and stain surfaces and adjacent materials.
