    General Information

Nearly gastronomy equipment: the Bezzera "BZ 10". With stainless steel housing

The Bezzera BZ10 belongs in the program of the Milanese manufacturer to the espresso machines that are, so to speak, transitional models between the smaller household machines and the large-dimensioned devices for use in Caffèbar and Trattoria. Although still modest in size, the BZ10 has technical details that can only be found in much more expensive models, especially in this well thought-out and solid implementation typical of Bezzera, above all the complex dual-circuit technology. The clear arrangement of the controls also speaks for the machine: to the right of the brew group the hot water outlet, to the left of it the steam lance, and all three easily accessible.

Everything at the same time. Dual-circuit technology

The espresso machine has two separately operating water circuits, coffee water at the optimum brewing temperature for an espresso (94-96 ° C) it provides at the same time as hot steam for frothing milk. Likewise, the hot water outlet mentioned above can be used to draw the necessary amount of hot water for preheating cups or for preparing tea, for example. In all details, the device is designed to enable a coffee break in a small circle. The (plastic) tank of the Bezzera espresso machine with its 3 l capacity provides a more than adequate supply of water (when falling below a minimum content, the machine switches itself off automatically), in the brew group, an additional electric heater also ensures that the 1.5 l water-holding boiler and the brew group not only reach the correct operating temperature amazingly quickly, but also keep it very accurately.

    Control and operation

After switching on, the Bezzera BZ10 is ready for operation within a little more than ten minutes. A dual pressure gauge displays both boiler and brewing pressure, providing information not only about the machine's readiness for operation, but also an indication of the correct grind (is the espresso grounds ground too fine, or possibly too coarse?) and, if necessary, any descaling that may be required. The machine is set to a brewing pressure of 9 bar. Unusual for a machine in this price range: steam and water taps are provided with a robust tilting mechanism, as in the large catering equipment, which makes complex screwing unnecessary and allows quick change - this is also an advantage not to be underestimated, one would like to prepare several cups of cappuccino or espresso in the shortest time.

With two water circuits which work separately, this machine provides the water for coffee at the optimal brewing temperature for an espresso (94–96 °C) and the hot steam for foaming milk.

      Control and operation.
BZ 10 is ready to use after a little more than ten minutes after switching on. A double pressure gauge shows the boiler as well as the brewing pressure and therefore not only provides information about the operating state of the machine but also information about the correct degree of grinding (is the espresso coffee too finely ground or perhaps too coarse?) and, if appropriate, when decalcification should be carried out. The machine has been set to a brewing pressure of 9 bar. Unusual for a machine of this price range: Steam and water taps, as is the case with larger appliances for the catering industry, are provided with a robust tilting mechanism which makes time-consuming screwing superfluous, and enables a quick change. This advantage is not to be underestimated if you want to prepare several cups of cappuccino or espresso quickly at the same time.

      Everything simultaneously. Dual circuit technology.
The machine has two water circuits which work separately, water for a coffee at the perfect brewing temperature for an espresso (94–96 °C) can be prepared at the same time as the hot steam for foaming milk. Hot water required for pre-warming cups or for making tea can also be obtained from the hot water outlet. All the details in this appliance have been carefully designed to make a quick and easy coffee break possible. The (plastic) tank with its 3l holding capacity provides a more than sufficient supply of water (if water levels fall below a minimum amount, the machine automatically switches itself off), in the brewing group an additional electrical heater also ensures that the 1.5l of water used by the boiler and the brewing group not only reach the operating temperature at an astonishing speed but also maintain this temperature very precisely.

This is an appliance which virtually meets catering industry standards. Clear arrangement: Bezzera "BZ 10". With stainless steel housing.
As part of the range produced by this Milan-based manufacturer, the BZ10 is one of the espresso machines which are, to some extent, transitional models - positioned between smaller household machines and larger machines designed for use in cafés and trattorias. Although this is a fairly compact machine in terms of size, the BZ10 still incorporates some exciting technical features which are otherwise only found in much more expensive models, and reflect the typical Bezzera emphasis on functionality. Particularly worthy of note in this context is the dual boiler technology. The clear arrangement of the operating controls is also a key feature of the machine: right the brewing group of the hot water outlet, left the steam tap, and all three are easily accessible.

      Earthed plug (type F).
