Belt knife with leather handle
General Information
French tradition. Hunting knives
In the old knife town of Thiers in Auvergne, the Wildsteer forge is a young company. Since 2004, the company has specialized in the production of outdoor and survival knives, with new blade shapes and innovative manufacturing techniques building on the town's centuries-old blacksmithing tradition. This knife is the best proof: a handy knife with a fixed, four-millimetre-thick blade made of corrosion-resistant Sandvik® steel - i.e. Swedish steel. The steel is heated to temperatures of over 1,200 °C and forged in a high-precision mould, the blade is then hardened and sharpened. It requires little maintenance and should only be cleaned with clear water. The manufacturer recommends occasional re-sharpening with a fine-grained diamond or ceramic sharpener. Mixed-tanned leather (chrome-tanned in the middle and vegetable-tanned on the outside) is artfully wrapped and tied around the solid, full-length knife handle; the quiver, also made of leather, is worn on the belt.
