Leather goods from northern Germany. Ludwig Schröder.
The family Ludwig Schröder, located in Uetersen in Schleswig-Holstein, has been in the leather business since 1825. For 140 years, the family tanned leather on their own farms and processed it into leather goods – until 1964. At that time, they gave up the tannery and decided to specialize solely in the processing of leather for belts and bags. Only the best vegetable or pit tanned cowhide from selected European tanneries is processed here. One of Schröder’s principles: The top layer of leather is barrel-dyed and never simply spray-painted.
Leather Goods from Uetersen. Ludwig Schröder.
The family-run business Ludwig Schröder in Uetersen, a small town in Schleswig-Holstein (Sleswick-Holsatia), is renowned for belts of the highest quality. Their material of choice is always the best vegetable-tanned or pit-tanned cow’s leather from selected European tanneries. For instance, there is no spraying with colour to achieve a specific stain. The Schröders have their leather barrel-dyed – a process that leaves the leather’s surface structure intact, lively and natural. The company has been in business since 1825. For 140 years, they had a tannery and a workshop producing leather goods. In 1964, they stopped tanning to concentrate on manufacturing leather goods. However, they still have the expertise engrained in their family roots and choose their leathers accordingly.
Hint:
The belt length is the length from the inside edge of the belt buckle to the centre belt hole. This length should correspond to the waist size of the trousers.
