Battery light aluminum

Mobile rechargeable lights are currently omnipresent, not least because they are extremely practical to use and versatile. However, there are also major differences here - in terms of materials, shape and performance. Here comes a luminaire from Grau in Hamburg, which in our opinion currently marks the top end in this segment. It starts with the material. The housing is made of visually and haptically pleasant light grey powder-coated die-cast aluminum, the diffuser is made of sturdy polycarbonate. Then there's the function: the luminaire body has the shape of a cone, which on the one hand provides space for the built-in rechargeable batteries, which give the luminaire a runtime of no less than 8 to 150 hours. On the other hand, it reflects the light into the room at a favorable angle (remember: angle of incidence equals angle of reflection).

The light itself is almost a science in itself. At its brightest level, it emits 450 lumens, which generally leaves marketable alternatives far behind. Above all, however, the light can be switched in three color temperature ranges based on natural daylight: 2,200-2,700 Kelvin, 1,700-2,200 Kelvin and 1,300-1,700 Kelvin. They can be selected and dimmed as required using a touch dimmer in the head of the luminaire (on/off, dimming) and a switch under the base (change of dimming spectrum). This switch can also be used to activate a sleep mode in which the luminaire automatically dims from 2,700 Kelvin to a sunset-like 1,300 Kelvin within 30 minutes and then switches itself off. Such functions are referred to as Human Centric Light (HCL), which describes lighting that is specially designed to optimize the interaction between light and people and thus promote well-being.

The luminaire, which is manufactured in Hamburg, is charged using a USB-C cable (supplied without mains adapter). An LED next to the USB port indicates the current charging status during use. What's practical: defective components or batteries can be replaced at the factory if necessary.
