Balcony raised bed steel galvanized

With its compact design, this raised bed makes it possible to achieve horticultural success even on a small balcony. It allows you to grow herbs, salads, zucchinis, cucumbers or chard; it is not suitable for deep-rooted vegetables such as carrots. And because even balcony owners are not protected from the vagaries of the weather, this raised bed is made of hot-dip galvanized sheet steel and is therefore absolutely weatherproof - it can withstand even the bad(er) whims of nature.

The tray of the raised bed is at the optimum working and harvesting height. Its base sinks slightly towards the middle so that excess water - for example after a heavy downpour - can drain away easily, preventing waterlogging. The rubber insert in the middle, which is extended downwards, also ensures that water can drain directly into a container placed underneath. There is also plenty of storage space under the raised bed for empty pots, small tools, a watering can or a soil bag.

Especially when space is limited, the ancient horticultural technique of the raised bed offers the possibility of intensifying horticulture naturally and multiplying harvests without adding additional fertilizer; in southern China, cultivation on raised beds has been intensively cultivated for centuries, taking advantage of the special fertility and yield of this form of cultivation. A more recent development is the raised bed, which has many advantages to offer: the soil temperature is significantly higher than in the open field, due to decomposition processes and construction - the side walls are directly illuminated by the sun. The higher temperature allows up to three harvests a year, as seeds germinate faster and vegetables ripen earlier. Proper filling can produce the best quality soil as a prerequisite for optimal plant growth - regardless of the soil conditions that otherwise prevail in the garden. In gardens heavily infested with slugs or voles, a raised bed also offers better control and pest management options.
