Bahco Garden Shears Ergonomic
General Information
What the doctor ordered – ergonomically shaped handles.
The Swedish firm Bahco has a long tradition of designing cutting implements that protect the user from the kind of wear-and-tear and fatigue syndromes (e.g. carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis) that often plague professional gardeners. They’ve designed these secateurs in collaboration with French and German health experts. The downward tilt of the blades means the wrist doesn’t have to be twisted so much and keeps the operator’s hand in a neutral position: the leftward tilt (for right-handers) prevents the hand from getting bent and, again, promotes a neutral working position. In this way the gardener gets more power with less exertion and the risk of torsion injuries is minimized. The handles have a gentle undulating shape in order to equalize distribution of pressure on the palm of the hand. In this illustration we show a pair of secateurs in the commonest size for right-handers. Other models for left-handers or right-handers with different handle length can be ordered from our Special Order Department, which also stocks all replacement parts.
Your health insurance recommends: ergonomically shaped handles. These secateurs are a development of the traditional Swedish manufacturer Bahco. In cooperation with German as well as French health insurances one manufactures there cutting tool, with which can be worked wear and fatigue-free. Professional users use it to prevent health problems (tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome). The downward inclination of the blades compensates for twisting of the wrist, while the lateral inclination prevents the wrist from being bent and allows work to be carried out in a neutral position for the hand. This optimizes power transmission and significantly reduces the risk of discomfort. We offer these scissors here in the most common size for right-handers. A model for left-handers and right-handed scissors in other handle lengths you get via our special order department.
Cutting Tools. For a good cut: how to choose the right model
For the selection of the right garden shears is first to answer the question, what should be cut. Our scissors differ in material, size, weight and equipment, so that each has a specific area of responsibility. Basically, we distinguish between two types of scissors: In bypass shears, two blades slide past each other, leaving a clean, smooth interface; in anvil shears, on the other hand, a sharp blade meets the stationary anvil. Bypass shears are particularly suitable for precise cuts requiring little force on thinner pruning material - such as roses, shrubs or perennials - while anvil shears can be used to make powerful cuts on stronger branches; they are thus particularly suitable for pruning woody plants. In our range you will then find, for example, specialists for topiary or thinning, for a particularly hand-friendly operation or an extra strong cut for particularly thick branches.
