Baby seat shell for kids high chair
General Information
Look me in the eye, little one. Well supported
The younger the child, the more support he needs if we want to lift him - in the truest sense of the word - early to eye level and sit with him at the table. The pragmatic solution for this requirement: to equip the children's chair with a seat shell. Such a seat shell supports your child to maintain its safe sitting posture when it can already sit upright without help.
This seat shell was designed specifically for the children's high chair beech wood, a design classic designed by Nanna Ditzel in 1955. With the same purist, clean design, the comfortable seat shell blends in with the high chair and specifically provides the functionality needed: to support the baby on the sides and back without cramming him or her in. The steam-bent beech plywood secures your offspring with its inherent robustness: by nature, the wood of beech is very dense and pressure-resistant, as plywood it has an additional increased strength and inherent stability. Wide loops of strong, vegetable-tanned cowhide hold the seat shell in position, but can be released in a few easy steps when your offspring has outgrown the shell.
Nanna Ditzel. Design for Generations
The most compelling design grows out of immediate need, while there is a lack of suitable solutions. As such a necessary solution, Nanna Ditzel (1923-2005) developed the children's high chair for her twin daughters Vita and Lulu. The Danish designer, dubbed the "First Lady of Scandinavian Furniture Design" by the Scandinavian Furniture Fair, acquired international renown with her furniture since the 1940s, her most prominent design dating from 1959: the "Hanging Chair", nicknamed the "Egg Chair", a hanging chair made of rattan.
To this day, Ditzel's high chair, together with her Hanging Chair and the Trissen Stool (1962), are among the recognized classics of Scandinavian furniture design. Manufactured by Carl Hansen & Søn in Gelsted near Odense, the chair, like its matching seat shell, is a reliable piece of furniture that will stand the test of time as a treasured and used heirloom for years, if not generations.
