Iron Blue Print. Cyanotype paper
With this light-sensitive special paper from the early days of photography, the contours (and structures) of leaves, plants, flowers, etc. can be reproduced - and without any apparatus or even darkrooms, exposed only by sunlight, then developed and fixed with tap water. Cyanotype or iron-blue printing is the name of the process that makes use of the light sensitivity of an iron salt and is one of the early copying processes. In addition to plants, of course, beautiful graphic effects can be achieved with all other objects suitable by the size.

The contours and structure of leaves, flowers and other plants can be reproduced with this special light sensitive paper from the early days of photography, without cameras or darkrooms. The subjects are simply exposed to sunlight, developed and fixed with tap water. The process is called cyanotype or iron blueprint. It utilizes the light sensitivity of a ferrous salt and was used as one of the early copying processes. In addition to plants, other objects of the right size can be used to create beautiful graphic effects.
